If you're interpreting CT scans for patients with acute abdomens you better know a whirl sign. You won't see a lot of them but the one you miss might cost someone the ultimate price. Calling out a whirl sign is an opportunity for a radiologist to make a real difference. This lady's could be seen on approx. 7 images.
They missed it. She had a midgut volvulus and died a couple days later.
